The Group's Encounter

We were skeptical on what business we're going to choose for the project. A small business that needs help on advertising. After an hour of brainstorming, unfortunately, we never had any final decision for our group. So we decided to roam around Makati to find a business in help.

February 5, 2011
Danica and I went to a laundry shop somewhere in PRC, unfortunately AGAIN, the owner of the shop wasn't at the store that time. Upon exiting the shop, we noticed a water refilling business beside the laundry shop, thinking that our other classmates wouldn't pick water refilling business as their project, we decided to enter the establishment, luckily, the owner was there and she was kind enough to entertain us.

We noticed the newly painted interior and their brand new high tech equipments. During the interview, the owner told us, it was only their 4th day since they opened. With the financial help of his brother, Ms. Mary Anne Lobrio opened the OZONE PURE: Water Refilling Station last February 2, 2011. Located at the highway of Chino Roces, a good place to put up a business. With all the (possible clients) establishments in the vicinity, we had the confidence it would boom in no time.

Danica, Angie and I visited the store for the second time. Full of ideas and suggestions, we interviewed the owner and suggested more promotional strategies. The best and most effective strategy we offered was to propose the nearby establishments to get monthly transactions and definite profit. Since water is a major necessity, it wasn't hard for us to get transactions from the vicinity. We are lucky enough to get McDonalds PRC Branch to be their water supplier. Another transaction was rest assured from Toyota Kalookan Branch since the manager was a good friend of Miss Mary Anne.

It was the day of implementation. The whole group rounded the store's vicinity. Trying to promote the business through flyers and business proposals. We get to talk to some eateries, grocery stores and even salons.

GROUP'S REACTIONS

"I've experience how to be patient in waiting the business owner for interview. Walking under the sun going to the place."
- Angelica Galindo

"We experienced a exciting and knowlegde boosting activities with this, cause we need to interview the Ozone Water Refilling Station and some consumers they sell their products, and we have given them questionnaires to answer, and the competitors and such."
- Rommel Geronimo

"Waiting for the business owner for almost 1 hour made me a good person! Haha! I don’t think I could be that patient enough! But it was fun, experiencing things has a great lesson to me. :) Walking under the sun, talking and pleasing a people you don’t know is a challenge for me. I’m this kind of person who will not approach somebody easily, but it was a great lesson! It helped me boost my confidence."
- Danica Ilan

"It was a fun experience for me. My friends and I got to bond, we get to conquer our fear of talking to people, we meet new people and we experience working on the field (under the sun and all the pollutions). We laughed a lot while finding the right business to help because I told them that will also be what we are doing when we will find our jobs. And until now, typing this blog, we still get to bond 'till midnight. See how fun we had? :)"

PILIPINO AKO: Ako Ang Lakas Ng Pagbabago

I don't have much to say about EDSA One because I didn't experience it myself. But as I watch videos and movies and hear stories from elders, It sounds as if it is really something to be proud of.

Citizens sharing flowers to the soldiers.

Showing the Laban sign.

Filipinos waving the Philippine flag.

Some stories say that nuns serve themselves as shields of the Filipinos during EDSA One. Giving out rosaries even to the government's soldiers. Providing food for everyone

There is this one TV commercial that touched me. The way he told the story feels like I've time traveled and brought me to the time where the color yellow was considered the color of the sky. He celebrated his 10th birthday with the millions of people in the historical avenue. He even said that you could "akbay" the strangers. Maybe because he knows you all have the same purpose that is to trust one another and to trust that they would surpass the moment of dictatorship.

On this one movie I have watched, The girl's aunt is telling her niece that they were on a fiesta. The innocent girl, not knowing it was the dangerous EDSA One told her grandfather that it was indeed a fiest. Everyone knows each other not by names but by heart and everybody is sharing.

The thought of EDSA One happened scares me. Really, I don't want it to ever happen again in the future. Many lives were sacrificed. But in my time and in the future, I would consider EDSA One as a history that I can really be proud of. Having our democracy and knowing that Philippines was once considered a strong nation, the feeling of happiness. How I wish I was there to celebrate.

Egypt has experienced it too. I saw this picture of Christians protecting Muslims while they pray for the mind of Mr. Hosni Mubarak's mind to be cleared and also pray for everyone's safety. This really touched me.

And as we celebrate it's 25th year. I wanted to express how blessed I feel through this blog.
